Why component manufacturers should not be missing from the machineering store

Our Markeiting team talks to Beate Freyer, Managing Director of machineering GmbH & Co. KG, about the advantages for component manufacturers of offering standardized models for the iPhysics simulation software, among others, and how they can increase their sales as a result.

Question: Ms. Freyer, machineering is a leading software manufacturer known for its powerful iPhysics simulation software. Can you explain why you decided to open a store for component manufacturers?

Beate Freyer: The main reason why we launched our component store is to provide our customers with the most realistic simulation possible. Decisions about which technologies and components to incorporate into a product are often made early on in the design process. The simulation helps engineers to run through various scenarios and find the best solution. By including numerous components in our store, we offer users the opportunity to test them under realistic conditions. This not only provides engineers with reliable results, but also gives component manufacturers the opportunity to make their products visible.

Question: What exactly is the benefit to a component manufacturer of offering their products in your store?

Beate Freyer: The main added value for component manufacturers is that their products can be tested in iPhysics’ realistic simulation environment, even in different scenarios. In the end, the customer often opts for the component that worked in the simulation. In our experience, around 90% of our customers buy the components that they have successfully tested in the model beforehand. This means that presence in the store maximizes the chances for manufacturers that their products will be planned and ultimately purchased in real production.

Question: How does the iPhysics simulation software support the decision-making process of engineers and developers?

Beate Freyer: Engineers and developers are often faced with the challenge of choosing the right components for their designs. Questions such as “Is the drive sufficient for my requirements?” or “Is the drive also suitable for future projects?” are typical. These questions can be answered in the simulation by running through various scenarios and testing different components. As already mentioned, the component that has convinced in the simulation is often transferred to the device plan and the parts lists.

Question: What do manufacturers have to do to add their components to your store?

Beate Freyer: It’s straightforward. Manufacturers should first get in touch with us to discuss the details. We clarify who will create the digital model of the component – we can either do this as part of a full service or the manufacturer can implement it themselves with our help. We have the vendor package for this, which includes licenses, training and support. For marketing, we then need a logo so that the customer can quickly find the component in the store.

Question: How many component manufacturers are already represented in your store?

Beate Freyer: We already have a large number of manufacturers on our platform, starting with control manufacturers such as Siemens, Beckhoff and Schneider Electric, through drive manufacturers such as SEW and Baumüller, to suppliers from the sensor industry. There are currently over 130 products from around 20 component manufacturers available in our store – and the number is growing all the time.

Question: What is your conclusion for component manufacturers who are thinking about joining the machineering store?

Beate Freyer: There are numerous advantages for component manufacturers to offer their products in our store. They benefit from increased visibility and at the same time support the decision-making process of engineers and developers. Ultimately, this leads to their products being used and purchased more frequently in production. I can only recommend manufacturers to join our store in order to maximize customer benefits together with us.

Question: Thank you very much, Ms. Freyer, for the interview and the exciting insights into the machineering store!

Beate Freyer: With pleasure!
