Digital Twin as a trade fair highlight

01/01/2024

Read the 5 reasons why you can shine at trade fairs with digital twins!

Trade fair appearances are always a good opportunity for companies to present their product/service innovations to their target group. A lot of money and manpower is invested in this. In return, the presentation should be convincing and boost sales. Many of our customers already use iPhysics to present a real-time simulation at the trade fair. But why should you rely on such a presentation?

1) It simply makes a difference!

The simulation of a system including the material flow is simply an eye-catcher. Potential customers stop and can immediately get an idea of what the company’s machine can do. Many words are often no longer necessary, the image is convincing. Especially when the real machine is shown at the trade fair in combination with its virtual counterpart – the digital twin. Our simulation runs in real time, so that a true virtual image is shown. The trade fair visitors are enthusiastic.  See the example from B&R https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMwxE3L5F7E

2) Clear representation of the system properties

Our simulation supports companies in explaining their system to visitors, especially in the case of complicated processes. The virtual model provides perspectives that are not possible with the real machine. Some of our customers even rely on VR + AR systems. Thanks to the standardized connection of various systems to our software, visitors to the stand can even immerse themselves in the virtual system and view every detail. This convinces potential customers. See the example of predictive maintenance with simulation at Krones AGhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lda2Ur7yue4

3) The real machine can stay at home

Some of our customers only travel to a trade fair with a simulation model. Either the real machine is difficult to transport due to its size, the costs would be disproportionately high or they are simply of the opinion that the virtual version already offers sufficient insight. Because our simulation is based on the real data of a real machine and represents it virtually in real time, some simply consider it sufficient to present the simulated model, which contains all the information. And very successfully.

4) Show what is possible

Our simulation models can be varied at the click of a mouse. This means that various scenarios can be run through together with visitors at the trade fair. Cycling, viewing angles, path changes – everything that cannot simply be changed on an existing machine can be easily demonstrated with a simulation. This allows future customers to directly imagine what would be possible for their own company with the exhibitors’ systems. The combination of real machines and virtual simulation objects is also possible without any problems. See showcase from ITQhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2cFLep3uA4

5) Real simulation instead of animation

Photorealistic animations of systems are also used in many places today for trade fair activities. However, the production of these films is extremely cost-intensive, and changes to the animation model can only be implemented in these films by specialized agencies with a great deal of effort and at high cost. Of course, the result is brilliant. However, the visitor immediately recognizes that it is an animation.  There is a real alternative that is cheaper and at the same time offers countless more application possibilities:  Simulation software such as iPhysics! These visual representations based on real-time data can also be used as digital twins at trade fairs. But the software can do so much more. Companies use this software at the start of a machine’s development for planning, for all development steps, for virtual commissioning, for safeguarding and optimizing the real machine, for creating the digital twin, for service and support purposes and much more. And also for marketing purposes such as trade fair films. And all of this is completely variable and flexible. The simulations for the respective trade fair presentation can be easily generated in-house. New every time, different every time. Conclusion: Overall, the software has so many more options compared to photorealistic films. This offers companies real added value in their daily processes, saving time and money. The presentation at the trade fair is merely on-top. So why do companies decide to spend a lot of money on a film that cannot be varied? Perhaps because they are not aware of a sensible and more cost-effective alternative.
